Let’s follow the pixie dust trail and discover our 5 top rides at Magic Kingdom!
Magic Kingdom has so many things to do. From classic iconic attractions to new and innovative rides, Magic Kingdom is the must see park in the most magical place on earth. So in no particular order here are our top 5 rides at Magic Kingdom.
Splash Mountain:
Located in Frontierland, this thrill log flume ride is filled with whimsy and music as and steps you through the story of Brer Rabbit. It has a 40 inch height requirement and has a memory maker photo opportunity at the climax of the attraction. This is one of our family’s favorite rides in the park. This is no ordinary log flume ride. The total ride time is a whopping 10 minutes and has just the right mix of thrill and leisure. Plus, the opportunity to get a little wet is always appealing on those hot park days. (Update: This attraction has now closed for a retheme to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.)
Haunted Mansion:
Located in Liberty Square, you climb upon a doom buggy for a grave journey through a labyrinth of haunted chambers. This ride has no height requirement. There is a memory maker photopass opportunity at the start of the ride and usually a photographer taking pictures in front of the mansion as you exit. We love all things spooky and the illusions and pre-show on this ride are really fascinating. The interactive queue is good fun for everyone as you prepare for your tour of the Mansion.
Pirates of the Caribbean:
Located in Adventureland, this attraction takes you on an adventure to a time when pirates ruled the seas. There is no height requirement, so the whole family can enjoy this attraction, but that doesn’t mean that there are zero thrills. Look for the on ride photo pass opportunity when you learn that “Dead Men Tell No Tales.” This attraction appeals to all the senses with multiple animatronics and scents throughout the attraction. Keep your eye out for Captain Jack Sparrow as the boat glides you from scene to scene.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad:
Located in Adventureland, hop aboard the “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness.” This coaster with three lift hills has a 40 inch height requirement. It is a fun and thrilling attraction and has all the great storytelling that Disney is known for. Look for all the little details throughout the ride and come back and ride it again at night. It is like a brand new attraction!
Space Mountain:
Located in Tomorrowland, this space rocket coaster launches you through the start dusted darkness with some thrilling big drops. It has a 44 inch height requirement. This coaster in the dark takes you through a space journey with unexpected drops and turns. It has two different tracks so make sure to ride it twice to get both experiences! They will even do special music and overlays during certain times of the year like Halloween and Christmas.
Honorable Mention:
Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train. This ride is themed off of the classic tale of Snow White. It’s a fun little coaster twisting through the diamond mines. It has a 38 inch height requirement. We absolutely love it, but wish the ride could be longer especially since it usually has a significant wait time in line.
Pixie Path Pointers:
Splash Mountain is listed to be rethemed to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure with an opening date of late 2024. It is probable that sometime in 2023 Splash Mountain will close for good. Who knows when your last time to ride Splash Mountain will be so don’t miss it. If you are doing a rider switch, waiting in the gift shop at the end of the ride gets you out of the heat and makes a great meet up point.
