Meet Stephen Britton, Travel Agent
I began my love of travel as a young child taking family vacations out of the southwest. Growing up in central Arizona and in a desert made traveling to other locations seem like a journey to another world. It wasn’t until later in life that I realized how fun it was to actually plan these trips since I had always relied on my family to do most of the organization and planning.
My enjoyment of theme parks and amusement parks comes from several trips to Disneyland while living in Arizona as well as other trips to Six Flags over Texas, Frontier City, and Silver Dollar City. Disneyland always held a special place in my memory because it was the first time I can remember staying up late to catch the night-time parades and watch the fireworks. My favorite memory of Disneyland was watching the Main Street Electrical Parade with a churro in hand, then leaving the park aboard a bus and falling asleep as I watched the fireworks through the window.
That memory contributes to the goal I have as a travel agent. I want my clients to be stress free and able to enjoy those small moments that enable all the magic memories to be made. With as complicated as life is and the amount of work that goes in to travel planning, I want you to enjoy your time without having to worry about every little detail. I have found that researching vacations and setting itineraries is just as enjoyable as actually going on the vacation. Plus, it gives me an ever-growing list of locations and experiences that I want to enjoy with my family as well!
A Word with Stephen...
Who is your favorite Disney character?
Wall-E, the Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth class. I found it interesting how technology was utilized to make humans' lives easier. And this robot that somehow developed a personality after 700 years simply by collecting the things he found interesting around him. He always had an inquisitive nature which never stopped and he learned to utilized the world around him to create change based off of who and what he interacted with.
What is your favorite Disney Parks attraction?
Rise of the Resistance. Out of the many different lands and experiences that immerse you into the movies and characters of Disney, the Rise of the Resistance is absolutely the best! While other rides and lands give you either the immersion into the movie or put you in the story that the ride is based on, Rise of the Resistance ties it all in together. Plus, the big reveal that occurs before you even start the actual ride is an awesome experience to display the scale of every scene you have seen in the movies throughout the franchise. I personally would not feel as if a trip to either Disneyland or Walt Disney World would ever be complete without riding this ride at least once.
Describe your ideal getaway.
Throughout every vacation or trip I have ever been on, there has always been one constant. In some way, shape, or form, my family has always been present. So, while most people say that they want to experience some location or destination, I say that my ideal getaway is something that my family wants to do. And as the planner I would make sure to have some time to recuperate, recover, and overall just relax. Even if that is just one day in the middle, sometimes your favorite day of vacation is the day you don't actually schedule anything and just see where the day takes you.
Best pro tip for travelers?
I would recommend that you attempt to make it an absolute priority to not answer phone calls, texts, or emails from work whenever you leave. I understand that not everyone is in a position that allows them to block out work completely. I always try to set that boundary while I am on vacation or traveling, anything that needs my attention can wait until I return. If your workplace cannot function when you leave for a week, then maybe you can use that to request a raise when you return!
